Key responsibilities:

Project Delivery

• Lead the delivery of complex ecological projects from inception through to completion across terrestrial, freshwater and/or marine environments.
• Scope, plan and undertake ecological surveys, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Natura Impact Statements, management plans and other technical assessments.
• Prepare and review high-quality reports and project submissions for planning, consent and regulatory processes.
• Conduct technical reviews, quality assurance and sign-off of ecological outputs.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
• Manage project budgets and support commercial performance.

Leadership & Mentoring

• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to junior ecologists.
• Review work prepared by team members and support their professional development.
• Effectively manage workloads, resources and project priorities to meet client and business objectives.

Requirements include:

• Degree qualification in Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, Natural Sciences or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years' post-graduate experience in ecology, ideally within a consultancy environment.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale ecological projects across a range of sectors.
• Strong understanding of the EU Habitats Directive, EIA Directive and associated environmental legislation.
• Excellent technical report writing, review and quality assurance skills.
• Demonstrable experience managing project budgets and commercial performance.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage a varied and demanding workload while leading project teams.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Full Membership of CIEEM or another relevant professional body, or working towards membership would be beneficial
• Experience providing specialist evidence at oral hearings or acting as an expert witness.
