Senior Quantity Surveyor / Senior Estimator
Location: Kilkenny (Mix of In-Office and On-Site)
Hours: Full-time, Permanent
Salary & Benefits: €80k / €90k Package + Vehicle - Career Development Support

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established main contractor operating in Kilkenny and across the South-East / midlands regions.

The company is currently delivering a high volume of residential & commercial projects, with a strong commercial team already in place and plans to strengthen it further due to continued growth.

This position offers excellent long-term prospects for progression within a stable, busy, and forward-thinking contractor renowned for quality delivery across the region.

Responsibilities will include:

• Prepare and manage detailed tender submissions, budgets, and cost estimates.
• Review and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations for accuracy and value Support project teams with cost planning, procurement, and commercial reporting
• Liaise with clients, design teams, and site management throughout project delivery
• Conduct value engineering exercises and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Assist in maintaining commercial systems, reports, and contract documentation
• Provide regular updates on financial performance to senior management
• Support continuous improvement and best practice across the commercial function

Requirements include:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline
• 8+ years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying or Estimating role
• Experience with a main or Tier 2 contractor highly desirable
• Proficient using Buildsoft and/or Cubit or CostX
• Excellent commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills
• Strong communication and organisational abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management software
• Irish or UK construction experience is essential
