Optimize Recruitment is partnering with a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to recruit an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded engineering team delivering innovative building services solutions across a broad range of commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and public sector projects.

You will have:

• A degree (or equivalent) in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status, or be in the final stages of achieving chartership.
• Significant experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy or similar professional engineering environment.
• Strong proficiency with industry-standard software including Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, and Microsoft Office applications.
• A solid understanding of Irish electrical standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
• Experience designing energy-efficient building services solutions with a focus on sustainability and decarbonisation.
• Knowledge of energy and carbon performance analysis, data capture, and building performance evaluation.
• Experience in designing for measurement and verification, together with commissioning and post-occupancy performance assessment.
• Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• The ability to lead projects independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and specification of electrical building services systems from concept through detailed design, including:
  • Power distribution
  • Earthing systems
  • Lighting design
  • Emergency and life safety systems
  • Telecommunications
  • Security and access control
  • Lift systems
  • Lightning protection
• Prepare detailed engineering calculations using industry-standard software including Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and other specialist design tools.
• Produce high-quality technical specifications, design reports, and client presentations.
• Work collaboratively with BIM and multidisciplinary design teams, with a practical understanding of Revit and coordinated design processes.
• Represent the business confidently at client meetings, design reviews, and project coordination meetings.
• Carry out site inspections, condition surveys, installation reviews, and commissioning monitoring to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards.
• Take ownership of project delivery, managing programmes, technical quality, and commercial performance to meet agreed deadlines and budgets.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support to junior engineers, fostering professional development within the team.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help drive technical excellence across the business.

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of electrical building services projects from concept through to completion. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you'll provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and build strong client relationships while contributing to the successful delivery of complex, high-profile developments.
