Project Planner (Intermediate to Senior)

Location: Waterford City
Salary: €65,000 – €90,000 DOE

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking an Intermediate to Senior Project Planner to join a growing energy contractor based in Waterford City.

This position will see you working as part of a dedicated planning team of three, supporting the successful delivery of multiple energy system projects across Ireland. The role is heavily focused on programme development, tracking, and coordination from early-stage planning through to project completion.

You will collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders to ensure programmes are realistic, monitored effectively, and aligned with project milestones and commercial targets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project programmes across multiple projects
• Monitor progress against key milestones and update schedules regularly
• Work closely with project teams to ensure programme alignment
• Identify delays, risks, and opportunities within project timelines
• Provide clear reporting and updates to senior management
• Support planning input from pre-construction through to delivery
• Coordinate with subcontractors and stakeholders on programme requirements
• Analyse project data to improve planning accuracy and efficiency
• Assist with resource planning and allocation across projects
• Ensure programmes reflect commercial and contractual requirements

Requirements

• Degree in construction, engineering, or related discipline
• 3+ years’ experience in project planning or similar role
• Strong proficiency in planning software such as Primavera or MS Project
• Experience working on construction or infrastructure projects
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
• Ability to manage multiple programmes and competing priorities
• Irish/UK project experience highly advantageous
