Trainee Patent Attorney – Electronics / Physics

London
Full-time | Permanent | Comprehensive Training Provided

We’re working with a leading UK intellectual property (IP) firm that is looking for talented graduates to join their team as Trainee Patent Attorneys. This is a unique opportunity to use your technical background in electronic engineering, electrical engineering or physics in a legal and commercial setting — protecting some of the world’s most innovative technologies.

The Role

As a Trainee Patent Attorney, you’ll work with cutting-edge inventions from day one — from AI and semiconductors to telecommunications and next-generation hardware. You’ll:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for breakthrough technologies.

  • Work closely with inventors, engineers, and global businesses to protect their innovations.

  • Receive one-to-one mentoring and structured training as you work towards qualification as a UK and European Patent Attorney.

  • Develop skills in law, strategy, and communication that go far beyond traditional engineering careers.

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong degree (minimum 2:1 or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field.

  • Excellent analytical skills and a passion for understanding how things work.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you’ll be explaining complex ideas clearly and concisely.

  • A genuine interest in technology, innovation and intellectual property.
