Job Description

SOUS CHEF, 70M CHARTER M/Y

Vessel: 70m Motor Yacht, Charter
Start Date: 4th October 2026
Package: €5,000 per month + tips, 60 days leave
Location: South of France | Mediterranean winter

Please note: Male candidates only due to cabin arrangements. The vessel will be undergoing a three month yard period in the South of France at the end of October before returning to her home birth in SOF until the summer.

We are seeking a talented, hardworking, and genuinely team-focused Sous Chef to join a 70m charter motor yacht catering for approximately 18 crew and up to 12 guests.

This is a great opportunity for a chef who enjoys a busy but positive galley environment and wants to become part of a crew with a strong dynamic, plenty of banter, and very little ego. The existing Sous Chef has been onboard for approximately 9–10 months and has built an excellent reputation within the program, so this is big shoes to fill.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is confident in their cooking, easy-going, adaptable, and happy to get stuck into whatever is required.

We are looking for someone who is good at their job, gets stuck in and is easy to have around. You should be able to work hard when the boat is busy, take ownership of your responsibilities and maintain high standards, while also being someone who enjoys a laugh and contributes positively to the crew dynamic.

This would suit a chef who is confident enough to take ownership of crew food but is equally happy supporting the Chef with guest service and getting involved wherever needed. A strong Sole Chef looking for their first Sous Chef position could be a great fit.

Big personality fit here — hardworking, humble, adaptable, positive and no ego.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of crew food for approximately 18 crew, ensuring varied, nutritious and consistently high-quality meals
  • Assist the Chef with guest food and service, particularly starters, during charter
  • Support menu planning, provisioning, ordering and stock control
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and organisation throughout the galley
  • Work efficiently through busy charter periods and turnaround days
  • Be willing to assist wherever required and contribute positively to the wider crew operation
Requirements:
  • Previous Sous Chef experience preferred, although a strong Sole Chef looking to step up will be considered
  • Previous yacht experience highly
  • Strong culinary skills and confidence preparing both crew and guest food
  • Good organisational skills with an understanding of provisioning and stock control
  • Able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • Proactive, adaptable and genuinely team-focused
  • Easy-going personality with a good sense of humour
  • No ego and happy to get stuck in wherever needed
  • Comfortable working within a social crew environment with plenty of banter
  • Male candidate required due to cabin arrangements

Program Expectations:

  • Mediterranean charter program with approximately 18 crew and up to 12 guests
  • Busy charter periods and turnarounds
  • Winter yard period planned following the current charter season
  • Strong, social crew dynamic with a positive and relaxed atmosphere onboard
  • High standards expected, but the environment is not overly formal or hierarchical
  • Teamwork, flexibility and a positive attitude are essential
