Vessel: 28m Private M/Y
Location: South of France
Contract: Seasonal with strong potential to go permanent, 30 days leave + discretionary time off via the captain
Start Date: March 2026
Salary: €4,500 per month
We are seeking a talented, switched-on Cook/Stewardess to join a beautifully maintained 28m private motor yacht based year-round in the South of France. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for longevity, work–life balance, and a genuinely enjoyable onboard environment.
The vessel is primarily used for local day trips during the season, with the occasional short cruise further afield. There are approximately 10–12 weekends and two longer trips of 7–10 days of guest use between May - September. Winter operations are highly flexible and relaxed.
This role is open to all nationalities, though a British background or strong understanding of British food, culture and humour would be highly advantageous. The owner’s preference is for simple, homely cooking — think elevated comfort food, posh pub classics, and well-executed favourites, rather than overly complex fine dining.
The yacht is owned by a well-known and experienced fleet owner with additional operations in the Caribbean, offering genuine future progression, including potential winter opportunities for the right candidate.
Crew of 3: Captain, Mate, and Cook/Stew
Guests: Maximum of 6, though most trips are owner-only
Atmosphere: Relaxed, British, family-style
Everyone mucks in, multitasking is the norm
A healthy, active crew who enjoy good food, good routines, and a good laugh
The captain is down-to-earth, fair, and flexible — if the work is done, he gives as much time off as possible. The owner is an approachable, witty “silver fox” who enjoys a laugh once he’s comfortable. This is a very easy role for an organised, proactive person who enjoys autonomy and a calm working environment.
You’ll be someone who is confident in the galley and interior, happy working independently, and comfortable with periods of solitude. A sous-chef background or experience as a sole stew/all-rounder would be ideal, along with a natural ability to adapt, think ahead, and keep standards high without fuss.
A fit, healthy, and active lifestyle will suit this role well - interests such as running, yoga, reading, or similar are a great match. You’ll be personable, upbeat, and happy to interact with guests when required, while also knowing when to give space.
Minimum of 1 year / 2 seasons’ experience in a similar Cook/Stew role
Valid ENG1 and STCW
Fluent written and spoken English
Ability to run the galley and interior autonomously
Happy, vibrant personality with a positive mindset and good sense of humour
Excellent, checkable references
30 days leave, plus discretionary time off via the captain
Easy itinerary with minimal guest days
Strong potential for long-term employment and progression
Supportive, respectful onboard culture
This is a fabulous opportunity to join a small, well-run private yacht where quality of life genuinely matters. Ideal for someone who is capable, adaptable, and looking for a role they can truly settle into.
