Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire
Salary: Up to £29,000 per annum
Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

We're looking for a proactive Purchasing Assistant to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Working as part of a supportive and experienced purchasing team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring materials are available when needed to keep production running smoothly.

This Purchasing Assistant position would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in building strong supplier relationships while maintaining excellent attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

As a Purchasing Assistant, your duties will include:

• Planning material requirements in line with production schedules and demand forecasts
• Raising and processing purchase orders accurately and efficiently
• Monitoring supplier performance and proactively expediting orders to ensure on-time delivery
• Maintaining a consistent supply of materials to support production operations
• Updating and managing supplier information, pricing, delivery schedules, and trade agreements within the ERP system
• Communicating material availability and supply updates across the business
• Supporting the wider purchasing team with sourcing activities, projects, and supplier-related initiatives
• Assisting in improving supply chain performance and inventory management processes

About You

To be successful in this Purchasing Assistant role, you should have:

• Previous purchasing, planning, material control, or expediting experience within a manufacturing or production environment
• Experience working with ERP or MRP systems
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
• A sound understanding of manufacturing and production processes
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
• High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
