Job Purpose
Responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities and partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, while strengthening and expanding existing partnerships. The goal is to grow the company's product portfolio, expand its partner base, and achieve sustainable commercial growth in line with the company's approved commercial strategy.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Identify and target pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers, and potential strategic partners aligned with the company's growth objectives and product portfolio.
- Build and manage a Business Development Pipeline, tracking opportunities from identification and qualification through negotiation to deal closure.
- Develop and manage commercial relationships with current and prospective pharmaceutical companies, building long-term partnerships that create added value for the company.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing partnerships through new products, therapeutic areas, or other commercial opportunities.
- Evaluate potential opportunities, partnerships, and products in terms of market size, competition, commercial potential, profitability, required investment, and risk, and assess alignment with company strategy.
- Prepare Business Cases and commercial proposals for qualified opportunities, and provide recommendations to the Chief Commercial Officer for decision-making.
- Manage commercial negotiations and discussions within approved authority levels, working to develop sustainable commercial terms in preparation for agreement approval.
- Track pharmaceutical market developments, competitors, new products, and sector trends to identify new commercial opportunities and market shifts.
- Identify gaps in the company's product portfolio and propose suitable opportunities, products, and partnerships to support expansion and growth.
- Monitor the progress of approved commercial opportunities, ensuring their transition from the business development stage to execution per agreed plans.
- Provide periodic reports to the Chief Commercial Officer on the opportunity pipeline, potential partnerships, negotiation stages, priority opportunities, and commercial forecasts.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or a related field.
- 57 years of practical experience in business development, commercial partnerships, or a related commercial role within the pharmaceutical sector.
- Good knowledge of the Iraqi pharmaceutical market and the commercial environment of the pharma sector.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
