FPSO Topsides Rotating Engineer - France/Asia

Location: Initially Paris, France, transitioning to Asia during the project execution phase
Contract: 12-Month Renewable Contract
Rate: Day Rate Basis


We are supporting a major deepwater FPSO development and are looking for an experienced FPSO Topsides Rotating Engineer to join the owner's project team.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up of a world-class FPSO development. You will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery and long-term reliability of critical rotating equipment across the topsides facilities.

Working within a multicultural project environment, you will coordinate closely with EPC contractors, equipment vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.


The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will provide technical oversight for all rotating equipment, ensuring engineering solutions meet project specifications, international standards, and operational reliability requirements.

Initially based in Paris, you will support the engineering phase before transitioning to Asia during construction and commissioning activities, working closely with contractors and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve detailed engineering deliverables for rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and associated auxiliary systems
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with project specifications and international standards, including API, ISO, and ASME
  • Coordinate technical interfaces between rotating equipment and process, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, instrumentation, and safety disciplines
  • Manage vendor documentation, technical queries, and equipment packages throughout the engineering and procurement phases
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and vendor inspections
  • Monitor equipment quality, preservation, inspection records, and non-conformance resolution
  • Support supplier evaluations, technical bid assessments, and equipment selection activities
  • Assist commissioning and start-up teams by ensuring rotating equipment is ready for safe operation and system handover
  • Participate in project risk assessments, design reviews, and change management activities
  • Monitor engineering progress, procurement status, and project milestones, providing regular technical reports to project management

Candidate Profile

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in rotating equipment engineering within the oil & gas industry
  • At least 3 years' experience supporting FPSO or offshore production projects
  • Strong background in:
    • Rotating equipment engineering
    • Detailed design reviews
    • Vendor package management
    • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
    • Commissioning and start-up
  • Good knowledge of API, ISO, and ASME standards
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams within EPC or owner/operator environments
  • Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent in English (French would be advantageous)
