About the Role:

In this permanent position, you will perform certified testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) of HVAC air and hydronic systems on new construction and existing facilities. You will be responsible for verifying system performance, identifying issues, and providing clear, actionable findings to project stakeholders. Your work will ensure compliance with design specifications, building codes, and safety requirements while supporting smooth project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform testing, adjusting, and balancing of air and hydronic systems using TAB instruments and meters in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct ductwork and airflow analysis to verify system performance, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC systems in the field, diagnosing issues related to airflow, pressures, temperatures, and equipment operation.
  • Read and interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and submittals to plan and execute TAB procedures accurately.
  • Document test results, calculations, and findings in clear, detailed TAB reports for submission to clients, contractors, and engineers.
  • Communicate with customers, contractors, and project teams on-site to coordinate work, clarify requirements, and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable building codes, industry standards, and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and properly use TAB instruments, meters, and related equipment to ensure accurate measurements.

Key Requirements:

  • Certified TAB Technician with proven field experience in commercial or institutional HVAC projects.
  • Strong hands-on skills in air and hydronic balancing using industry-standard TAB instruments and meters.
  • Demonstrated experience in HVAC system troubleshooting, including diagnosing airflow, pressure, and temperature issues.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schedules, and specifications.
  • Solid understanding of building codes, HVAC standards, and TAB procedures relevant to commercial installations.
  • Ability to produce accurate, detailed documentation and reports with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for working directly with customers, contractors, and project teams on-site.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to OSHA and company safety policies.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with complex or specialized systems such as VAV, laboratory, healthcare, or critical environment HVAC.
  • Familiarity with digital reporting tools, spreadsheets, or TAB software for data collection and report generation.
  • Knowledge of commissioning processes and integration of TAB work into overall building commissioning.
  • Previous experience working with engineering firms, mechanical contractors, or building owners on multi-phase projects.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Formal HVAC training, technical school certificate, or apprenticeship completion preferred.
  • Current TAB certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NEBB, AABC, TABB) required or strongly preferred, depending on project needs.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
