Photovoltaic System Designer


Responsibilities:

Create solar photovoltaic system layouts in AutoCAD to be used for interconnection, permitting, and construction.
Manage the development of full project plan sets, scope of work revisions, electrical equipment, wire/conduit sizing & Solar install details.
Communicate with structural engineers, electrical engineers, and electricians to ensure drawings accurately represent system design requirements.
Revise drawings as needed throughout the development and construction phases.
Provide technical support to business development and project management teams when required.
Have knowledge of PV system operation and troubleshooting
Ensure system drawings meet NEC and local jurisdiction requirements
Able to determine when a derate or MPU is necessary for a project.
Able to determine and apply special interconnection types (Pedestal, Sub panel, trenching, 400A MPU, Load and line side taps, etc.)
Able to apply adders, and request approval for MPU adders
Able to determine when a change requires a COS and knowledge of who to notify.
Able to create plans for multi-inverter and single Powerwall systems.
Meet minimum production of 10 plans/day while performing revisions and normal requirements
. Requirements:
Associates level education (Bachelors preferred)
1 – 2 years of prior drafting experience in AutoCAD
Ability to read measurements and plans
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Knowledge of NetSuite (useful but not necessary)
Knowledge of Electrical or Structural design (useful but not necessary)
Ability to research potential issues and interferences to find resolutions
Ability to reconcile multiple sourced data to make technical decisions
Knowledge of MS Office
Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
Exceptional attention to detail & ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills

Problem solving skills and the ability to multitask are key.
