Medical Scientist – Clinical Chemistry
Location: Regional Hospital Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
Working Hours : Full Time (35 hours/week)

TTM Healthcare Solutions is recruiting a Medical Scientist – Clinical Chemistry to join a busy hospital laboratory in Mullingar.

Aim:
To perform, routine, specialized, research and development testing to the highest professional standards for the greater need of the patients. The fundamental philosophy guiding this position is that the Post Holder will take any and all measures that will ensure that Laboratory tests are performed and reported within a Quality Management framework and that the Department operates to the requirements of ISO 15189 current revision ‘Medical Laboratories Particular Requirements for Quality and Competence’ and to Best Practice as to ensure Quality and Safety of the Clinical Chemistry service provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and specialised Clinical Chemistry testing.
  • Process and analyse patient samples in line with ISO 15189 and laboratory SOPs.
  • Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory analysers.
  • Perform quality control, validate results and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in CPD, quality improvement initiatives and laboratory rotas.

Requirements:

  • CORU mandatory
  • Experience in a Clinical Chemistry laboratory is desirable.
  • Knowledge of ISO 15189 quality standards.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and teamwork skills.

  • Knowledge of how to perform routine and specialised work to the highest professional standards;

  • Understanding of the importance of recording and reporting results and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Knowledge of ISO 15189 accreditation standards and how they are applied.

  • Knowledge of Documentation management systems.
  • Understanding of Clinical Audit
