Counsellor Therapist – Primary Care & Mental Health Services

We are currently seeking a qualified and committed Counsellor Therapist to join a dynamic primary care and mental health service team across Newcastle West and Limerick City.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will provide therapeutic support within a primary care and mental health setting, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver services in line with HSE guidelines and best practice standards.

Location & Working Arrangements

• Newcastle West (NCW):
  • Tuesday & Thursday only (fixed – no flexibility to change these days)
• Limerick City:
  • Remaining working days
  • Flexible/negotiable schedule, outside of NCW commitments

Contract Details

• Type: Full-time (daytime hours)
• Commitment: Minimum of 2 days per week required
• Contract Duration: As per standard HSE guidelines

Key Requirements

• Recognised dual qualification in counselling/psychotherapy in line with HSE National Counselling Service (NCS) eligibility criteria
• Relevant clinical experience in primary care and/or mental health services
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Additional Requirements

• Attendance at team meetings on Wednesdays (approximately 9 times per year) is required
• Strong organisational, communication, and clinical skills
• Full driver’s licence required, unless based solely in Newcastle West and no travel is required
• Access to a car may be necessary depending on location and travel needs

Desirable Attributes

• Experience working within Irish primary care services
• Familiarity with HSE systems, governance, and clinical frameworks
