Purpose of the Post
The Social Work Team Leader will provide professional leadership and management to a Social Work team within the Intensive Family Support (IFS) Safety & Welfare Team, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, child‑centred services in line with Tusla policies, national practice frameworks, and statutory responsibilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day operational management and professional supervision to social work staff
- Ensure effective case management, risk assessment, and decision‑making in relation to child welfare and protection concerns
- Support social workers in managing complex and high‑risk cases, promoting reflective and evidence‑based practice
- Monitor and manage workload allocation, ensuring service priorities are met
- Ensure compliance with Children First, relevant legislation, Tusla procedures, and national practice standards
- Liaise with internal services and external agencies to support integrated service delivery
- Contribute to service planning, reporting, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
- Promote a positive team environment that supports professional development and best practice
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must, on the latest date for receipt of applications:
- Hold a recognised professional qualification in Social Work
- Be registered on the Social Workers Register maintained by CORU
- Have relevant post‑qualification experience, including experience in child protection and/or child welfare services
- Demonstrate previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
- Have a thorough knowledge of Tusla practice models, policies, and statutory functions
- Demonstrate strong leadership, organisational, communication, and decision‑making skills
