Occupational Therapist (Staff Grade) -
Community Psychiatry of Later Life in
Mullingar.
Location: Mullingar
Duration: This contract is for 12 months +

Responsibilities:- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions for elderly patients with psychiatric conditions in a community setting.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to enhance patients' functional abilities and quality of life.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and family members to ensure holistic care.
- Conduct home visits to assess patients' living environments and recommend necessary modifications to improve safety and independence.
- Deliver therapeutic group sessions and activities to promote social engagement and cognitive stimulation.
- Monitor and document patients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
- Educate patients and caregivers on coping strategies, adaptive techniques, and available community resources.
- Maintain up-to-date patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
Skills and Qualifications: - Degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with CORU
- Experience in elderly care preferably within a community setting.
- Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic work environment.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for community visits.
- Be a resident in Ireland and hold one of the following: EU passport or GNIB card with Stamp 1G, Stamp 2, Stamp 4, Stamp 4D, Stamp 5, or 4 EUFam.
- Willing to undergo Garda Vetting.
- International Police Clearance required (if lived outside of Ireland for more than 6 months after the age of 16).
