Job Overview:

We seek a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Specialist Audiologist to join our dynamic team. The purpose of this post is to provide a pivotal role in the coordination and delivery of Audiology activities within the Hospital and will be involved in the development of a national pediatric vestibular service

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality services to our patients, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining the highest standards of care. This role offers the opportunity to work in a modern facility with state-of-the-art equipment and a collaborative team of healthcare professionals.

You will work closely with Colleagues in Audiology and ENT. Other members of the multidisciplinary team and operations team. Health and social care professional colleagues. External colleagues and agencies such as the Visiting Teacher Service and Community Audiology

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide access to audiology at ENT clinics and non-ENT audiology appointments.
  • Triage of referrals based on agreed CHI Audiology cross-site referral criteria
  • Design, deliver, and develop a national paediatric vestibular service is in line with the 2019 HSE publication “Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, A Model of care for Ireland” (p6) which recommends a one-stop multidisciplinary acute vestibular assessment and rehabilitation clinic in each Hospital Group. This will occur in collaboration with Audiology colleagues.
  • Design, deliver and develop other national Audiology services as required.
  • Lead, support, guide and develop other staff and students through supervision, training and appraisal.
  • Develop and review support, teaching and mentorship mechanisms.
  • Act as a role model for staff.
  • Auditory Brainstem Response testing, including testing under general anaesthetic in a demanding theatre environment, often with variable testing conditions that requires problem-solving skills.
  • Visual Reinforcement Audiometry and distraction test assessments.
  • Transient and Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission Testing.
  • Speech testing on children of various ages.
  • Assessment of children with suspected nonorganic hearing loss.
  • Pure tone audiometry, play audiometry, and performance testing.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Audiology or equivalent qualification.
  • MSc in Audiology or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • Experience programming and fitting air or bone-conduction hearing aids to children and reviewing children with hearing aids
  • Experience in performing, interpreting the results of, and reporting on vestibular assessments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
