Community Engagement Worker - Open Access Service

Contract: Full-time Permanent Position 39Hrs

Salary:  €33,860 – €39,840 DOE

Locations: Dublin 8

This is a national voluntary organization that helps people who are homeless and those caught in addiction. They provide frontline services, practical supports, pathways towards recovery and innovative responses to the issues of drug use and homelessness in Ireland.

 

Responsibilities

Cultivating positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders by Operating within the different areas/roles within the service, advice and info, drop-in reception, and door.

Developing relationships with the Gardaí.

Building relationships with neighbours, regular meetings, and “check-ins”, addressing issues presented concerning clients i.e. Trespassing, public injecting, loitering.

Building relationships with client groups, communicating effectively, in a sensitive, non-judgmental, and respectful way.

Dealing with challenging behaviour.

Being a visible presence on the street during the service's opening hours.

To upkeep/maintain the outside of the building, picking up Litter and drug paraphernalia.

Monitoring the queuing area as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Level 7 in Social Care or similar field qualification
  • At least 1 years’ experience of working within low threshold environment or relevant social care settings
  • Experience in dealing with de-escalating difficult situations, including but not limited to managing challenging behaviour.
