TTM Healthcare are currently seeking a Speech and Language Therapy Manager to come and join Ireland’s Largest Oncology Network Teams on a Full time Permanent Basis. The primary patient groups requiring SLT services include those with cancers related to the head and neck, brain and CNS, lung, upper GI, and late-stage cancer diagnoses. There is significant potential to further develop SLT services, such as Videofluoroscopy. This position is based in Dublin 6, and the successful candidate’s main responsibility is to deliver SLT services at this site. Additionally, it is crucial for the candidate to collaborate closely with SLT services across the organization, assisting the HSCP Manager in achieving equitable patient care and fostering a cohesive approach to service development and delivery. The post holder will be reporting directly to the General Manager.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical services as part of a multi-disciplinary team for patients receiving radiotherapy, while providing clinical leadership, professional supervision, and governance to the speech and language therapy team
  • Work in conjunction with the SLT teams to support the development of the overall SLT service.
  • Uphold and advance high standards of clinical practice and expertise in communication, as well as feeding, drinking, and swallowing (FEDS) for patients undergoing (chemo) radiation treatment.
  • Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness of interventions through evidence-based practice and outcome measures and adapt practices as necessary.
  • Lead SLT operational service developments, strategic planning, development of policies, submission of business plans, quality initiatives and reviewing of service delivery to ensure a high-quality patient centred service which is based on the best available evidence
  • Develop, monitor and report on the speech and language therapy discipline regarding best practice, quality and standards, audit and evaluation, clinical governance, regulatory requirements, research and innovation in speech and language therapy.
Requirements:
  • CORU Registered as an SLT
  • Minimum 5 years Post Grad Experience
  • Experience working with dysphagia.
  • Experience working with patients who have undergone (chemo) radiotherapy treatment and/or patients with head or neck cancer.
  • Experience in working with tracheostomised patients.
  • Experience of developing and managing a SLT service including experience of writing and negotiating business plans and working collaboratively with senior management and clinical leads.
  • Experience in videofluoroscopy administration and analysis.
