Role: Lead Cost Controller
Location: Boden, Sweden

Overview:
Stegra are looking for an experienced Lead Cost Controller to join one of Europe’s largest industrial mega-projects — a major green steel development in Boden, Sweden. This role is ideal for a senior project controls professional with strong cost management expertise across large-scale industrial or EPCM-led projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cost control activities for a major project area, ensuring alignment with approved budgets, project objectives, contractual commitments, and company requirements
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve cost forecasts, variance analyses, cash flow forecasts, and cost performance reporting
  • Review and challenge EPCM cost reports, commitments, accruals, change orders, and expenditure reporting
  • Monitor project performance to identify cost risks, trends, and opportunities, driving proactive mitigation actions
  • Work closely with Area Managers, Project Managers, Procurement, Finance, Planning, and EPCM contractors
  • Support change management processes through cost impact assessments and cost change registers
  • Prepare executive cost reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership
  • Support continuous improvement of project controls systems, reporting standards, and governance frameworks

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Economics, Project Controls, or related discipline
  • Professional certifications such as AACE, CCP, PMI, or PMP are advantageous
  • Around 10+ years’ experience in project cost control, project controls, or commercial project management
  • Strong experience in large-scale industrial, infrastructure, energy, mining, manufacturing, or EPCM-led projects
  • Proven ability to manage complex cost structures, contractor reporting, forecasting, and change management
  • Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills
  • Advanced Excel and project controls software knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills in English
