Job Description

Data is indispensable for the energy transition to move forward, and they have a lot at our client. The right information must be retrieved from this data. The new data landscape is constantly changing and is becoming more modern and cool to work on. You can contribute to this as a Data Engineer 

In this specific role of Data Engineer, you are responsible for carrying out management activities. This work consists of monitoring daily data flows, solving problems and informing stakeholders with the aim of keeping the data in the data warehouse up to date and ensuring a stable data environment. This management arose from an integration process.

In addition, you translate information needs into successful data solutions. They do this on a data platform mainly based on Databricks. You will use ETL technologies from Computer Science for this, among other things.

You will also help with the development and further positioning of the BI and data services. And in this way, it helps to extract added value from data for their business departments. This allows them to improve their services all the time. You are able to quickly master new tooling and programming languages. You also like to innovate together, develop yourself and take others with you. And in everything you do, you keep the interests of the customer in mind

As a data engineer, you have experience with both management activities and setting up data solutions. You are self-starting and have strong communication skills, which allows you to effectively find alignment with different teams and consumers. In addition, you can use your analytical skills to perform integration analyses to map dependencies from source to data product.

Profile Requirements:

You have at least a bachelor's degree in working and thinking with demonstrable experience in the Microsoft Azure (data services) stack (including Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps & Azure Functions)

You have demonstrable experience with ELT/ETL flows (experience with Databricks and Airflow is an advantage). And experience with creating Unix (shell) and Python scripts for automation is an advantage.

You have knowledge of databases, including SQL Server. And you are familiar with software engineering best practices, such as OTAP, version control in GIT and CI/CD.

You have demonstrable knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services or are willing to learn this. Knowledge of BIML is recommended.

Demonstrable experience with data lake concepts such as Databricks Delta Lake and file formats such as Parquet and Delta is a strong advantage. And you have experience with modeling data in accordance with Datavault and dimensional Kimball.

You also have knowledge of methods and techniques for the analysis of business processes and making improvement proposals. Experience with an Agile Scrum method, BI test automation and PowerBI are an advantage.

Experience with management processes in a DWH environment is an advantage.

Communication skills and self-starting ability.

Good oral and written communication skills in Dutch (level B2 / eager to learn).
