Data Engineer
32 to 40 hours | Hybrid | Amsterdam
The Role
Our client is looking for a Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in transforming business needs into effective and sustainable data warehouse solutions. As part of an agile development process, this professional will contribute to the creation of data solutions that require strong stakeholder engagement, such as organization-wide key performance indicators. These efforts are fully aligned with the overarching data warehouse architecture. This position is part of the Data department and reports to the Data Engineering Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and translate reporting requirements into concrete solutions.
- Effectively communicate technical challenges to users and co-develop workable solutions with stakeholders.
- Design and implement sustainable and efficient data warehouse solutions that meet stakeholder needs.
- Manage the full development lifecycle of work packages, from testing to implementation and maintenance of data products.
- Validate third-party data warehouse solutions for compliance with architectural principles, efficiency, and maintainability.
- Coordinate data warehouse updates and reporting developments within an agile (scrum) team.
- Provide ad-hoc support for daily ETL processes and resolve any issues that arise.
- Collaborate with other architects to align data warehouse developments with the overall architecture strategy.
- Ensure adherence to development standards and processes within the organization.
- Drive innovation and efficiency in BI product development, focusing on data provisioning, reporting, analytical solutions, and self-service BI to support data-driven decision-making.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience with the Microsoft stack, including SQL Server 2016 (or later) and development tools such as Visual Studio, TFS, and Urban Code.
- Advanced knowledge of data warehouse architecture, ETL processes, data warehouse concepts (e.g., Kimball methodology), and end-to-end reporting solutions.
- Expertise in data warehouse testing.
- Strong collaborative skills and experience managing complex use cases; experience in agile teams is a plus.
- Fluency in English.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, IT, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the reporting domain.
