We're looking for inspiring Primary English Teachers to join an exciting Ministry of Education project in Brunei, starting in January 2026.

Over 200 expatriate teachers join each year to provide ongoing quality support and assurance to international schools. Teachers work with more than 20,000 students across Brunei, to enrich their learning and help them fulfil their potential.

As an English Teacher as part of this amazing project, you can combine your love of teaching with a beautiful coastline and tropical climate. This small country on the island of Borneo in South East Asia is surrounded by pristine tropical jungle and beaches, with temperatures around 27-30 degrees all year.

An enthusiastic English Teacher, you will have a passion for your subject with a strong background teaching Primary-aged children. Although Malay is the official language, English is considered the principal language of business and is used to teach academic subjects to all students from primary school to secondary school.

This exciting teaching role is available to start in January 2026.

Skills and requirements:

  • QTS/teacher accreditation (PGCE Bed, DipT etc.) ideally from a UK Institution
  • UK Degree
  • A minimum of 3 years' teaching experience post qualification, in English Language
  • Classroom experience teaching in an early primary/foundation stage/Key Stage 1 setting
  • DBS/valid police clearance certificate
  • Passport from the UK, US, Ireland, Canada, Australia or New Zealand
  • Able to drive (please note, a driving test must be undertaken in order to obtain a Bruneian driving licence)
  • Under 55 years old at the time of arrival in Brunei Darussalam (please note, this requirement is due to eligibility to obtain a visa).
