Head of Business Development & Marketing – Africa (FRP / Composites)

Location: Africa (flexible – travel required)

Industry: Advanced Materials / Composites / Infrastructure

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading FRP composite manufacturer growing their commercial footprint across Africa.

This role drives market awareness, demand generation, and pipeline development — creating high-quality opportunities for the commercial team to convert.

Key Responsibilities

Market Development

  • Identify and develop new markets, sectors, and applications for FRP solutions
  • Drive FRP adoption in industries replacing steel, concrete, and timber

Demand Generation & Pipeline

  • Design and execute demand generation strategies across rail, municipal, utilities, and construction sectors
  • Build and maintain a strong, qualified pipeline aligned to growth targets

Brand & Market Positioning

  • Position the business as a leader in FRP solutions
  • Lead industry education, thought leadership, and market shaping initiatives

Value Proposition & Go-To-Market

  • Develop sector-specific FRP value propositions translating technical features into business benefits
  • Lead go-to-market strategies and develop sales enablement tools

Market Intelligence

  • Analyse market size, competitor positioning, and demand drivers
  • Provide actionable insights to Commercial and Technical teams

Digital, PR & Industry Presence

  • Own brand visibility across digital platforms
  • Lead participation in industry events and exhibitions

Requirements

  • Degree or National Diploma in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field — MBA advantageous
  • 5–7+ years in business development and/or strategic marketing within industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure sectors
  • Proven track record in market development and pipeline building
  • Experience positioning technical or engineered products
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration with commercial and technical teams
