GRP/FRP Production Team Leader – Dubai

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced GRP/FRP Production Technician to lead and coordinate a team in manufacturing high-quality composite components for marine, automotive, and industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of glass fiber-reinforced plastics (GRP) and / or fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP), extensive experience in composite manufacturing, and strong leadership skills to drive quality, efficiency, and innovation in production.

Key Responsibilities: Team Supervision and Leadership

• Oversee the manufacturing of GRP/FRP components, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to production schedules.
• Supervise laminators, mold technicians, and finishers in layup, vacuum infusion, resin transfer molding (RTM), and hand lay-up processes.
• Organize workflows, assign tasks, and ensure all team members understand their responsibilities.
• Monitor production output, implement process improvements, and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Process and Quality Control

• Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and process specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Conduct inspections for air pockets, delamination, fiber content, and thickness variations to maintain high standards.
• Oversee the application of gelcoat, resin systems, and structural reinforcements, ensuring consistency and strength in finished components.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, safety protocols, and industry regulations.

Training and Development

• Train team members on advanced GRP/FRP techniques
• Provide hands-on coaching to improve efficiency and craftsmanship.
• Identify skill gaps and organize cross-training sessions to build a highly skilled workforce.

Operational and Resource Management

• Manage raw materials, tools, and equipment required for GRP/FRP molding, curing, and finishing.
• Coordinate with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure material availability and cost efficiency.
• Maintain accurate production records, personnel logs, and workflow reports.
• Communicate between upper management and the production team to ensure alignment with company goals.
• Enforce workplace safety standards, including proper handling of resins, catalysts, and curing agents.

Skills and QualificationsTechnical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of GRP/FRP materials, resin systems, reinforcement fabrics, and core materials.
• Proficiency in vacuum infusion, RTM, prepreg layup, and wet hand lay-up techniques.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, CAD designs, and engineering drawings for composite structures.
• Hands-on experience in mold preparation, lamination, curing, trimming, and finishing.

Leadership and Organizational Skills

• Proven experience in leading GRP/FRP production teams
• Strong problem-solving abilities to address defects, material inconsistencies, and production bottlenecks.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and optimize production workflows.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in GRP/FRP composite manufacturing, including supervisory or leadership roles.
• Experience in marine, aerospace, automotive, or industrial composite manufacturing is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with CNC cutting, automated composite processing, and mold fabrication is a plus.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, DNV, or other quality management systems related to composite materials.
