Workshop Manager (Sheet Metal)

 

Location – Eastleigh

Hours – 9am-5pm Monday to Friday

Pay - £40k - £55k per annum

Job Type – Full time / Permanent

 

Red Chilli Recruitment are looking for an experienced Workshop Manager for our well established Sheet Metal client based in Eastleigh. You will be accountable for all aspects of manufacturing, assembly, and shipping of products – Reporting to Managing Director and Group Board

You will lead skills development for teams of 15+ in the factory, oversee health & safety, implement lean initiatives, support the sales & estimating teams and manage /  update ISO9001, EN1090 and FORS requirements.

Also, you will be identifying opportunities within the business to improve efficiency and facilitate growth, including capital investment proposals, automation, process optimisation, cost reduction, and enhanced productivity.

 

  • Maintain and enhance Production performance to meet KPI objectives - Streamline workflows to improve overall production efficiency.
  • Supervise daily manufacturing operations for efficiency, quality, and timely product delivery.
  • Continually monitor and review the skills of your team and assist in upskilling and training of your staff to meet the challenges of a growing business.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
  • Efficient co-ordination and allocation of resources to meet production goals, including labour, equipment, and materials within agreed budgetary constraints.
  • Work closely with other Group Company managers to ensure all internal resources are maximised
  • Lead and implement lean initiatives including 6-sigma techniques, Kaizen and 5S activities; transfer knowledge to our key personnel to develop a strategy of continuous improvement. Implement kanban, optimise inventory and collaborate with Procurement on scalable supply chain solutions.
  • Uphold high-quality standards and excellent customer service through corrective and preventive actions.
  • Pro-active and reactive sales and engineering support for new or key client development.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements including EN1090, ISO 9001 and FORS. Support the business its drive to achieve IOS14001.
  • Ensure preventative and annual maintenance in place for plant and machinery.

 

Skills / Experience –

 

  • A deep knowledge of sheet metal engineering practices.
  • Strong leadership abilities to guide teams towards common goals.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven track record in manufacturing or fabrication SME environments in production management roles.
  • Knowledge of production processes, lean principles, and quality management systems.
  • Ability and passion to develop and grow a strong team.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing, production planning and analysis tools.
