    Procurement Lead (Buyer)

     

    Location – Calmore, Southampton

    Pay - £30k-£35k per annum

    Hours - Monday to Thursday – 08:30 - 16:30

                  Friday – 08:30 - 16:00

     

    My client is a very well established mechanical engineering organisation offering complete project services to a variety of industries including Petro-Chemical, Oil & Gas, Power, Water and Pharmaceutical. With more than 20 years’ experience working with very well known and trusted clients. They have gone through sustained growth year on year over the past few years and with long term contracts secured, therefore this role provides long term job security and growth opportunities.

     

    It is desired you have  background in petrochemical / pipe work / flanges / pressure vessels etc

     

     

    The main purpose of the role is to obtain quotations from the companies preferred suppliers list for materials and sub – contract service providers. Review the returned quotations and measure the costs against shown on the system meet within the budget constraints for the project. Procure all materials or sub – contract services ensuring that the delivery of the goods and or services meet that of the fabrication programme.

     

    The position demands a high level of mathematical / numerical competency and communication skills. Strong administration and planning of workload. Strong negotiation skills are advantageous. Being able to work with various departments simultaneously.

     

    Roles / responsibilities –

     

     

    • Management of the approved suppliers list. Including adding to the approved suppliers list as required to enhance the services used and to continually improve our service provision and commercial advantage.
    • Liaise with the Estimating department to obtain quotations for materials and sub – contractor services for client tender submissions.
    • Liase with the Production team to procure materials and subcontract services for each fabrication project at the outset.
    • Liase with the Site Installation Manager to ensure plant hire and sub – contract services are procured and delivered in a timely manner for commencement of a site project.
    • Ensure plant hire does not exceed the commercial costs detailed on our system.
    • A strong understanding of working within the budgetary constraints set out on the estimating departments costing system.
    • Ensure that the purchase orders raised meet the materials and or service provision required.
    • Support the accounts department in identifying discrepancies found between the original purchase order raised and the invoice received.
    • Working with our Quality Department to ensure all material certification is requested within our procurement process and is delivered to the company in a timely manner to ensure materials can be checked in.
    • Maintaining and building strong business relationships with our long and short term suppliers.
