Quality Assurance Manager (Pipe Work)

Location – Southampton

Pay - £40k-£60k per annum

Hours - Monday to Thursday – 07:30 - 17:30

               Friday – 07:30 - 13:30

 

My client is a very well established mechanical engineering organisation offering complete project services to a variety of industries including Petro-Chemical, Oil & Gas, Power, Water and Pharmaceutical. With more than 20 years’ experience working with very well known and trusted clients. They have gone through sustained growth year on year over the past few years and with long term contracts secured, therefore this role provides long term job security and growth opportunities.

 

Main purpose of the role is to lead the execution and deployment of the companies Quality Management System currently in place. You will provide total quality leadership to their valued clients, suppliers, and internal manufacturing processes. Driving the business forward and help maintain the reputation gained for delivering projects with extremely tight fabrication schedules on time.

You must be computer literate with a working knowledge of word and excel with knowledge of pipe work ASME codes and PED requirements. The position also demands a high level of mathematical / numerical competency and communication skills.

 

Roles / Responsibilities

 

  • Provide a single point of contact for all Quality Assurance throughout the company.
  • Ensure all codes and industry standards are adhered too throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Create technical files including the implementation of Inspection Test Plans.
  • Manage both internal quality and supplier quality audits and management reviews in accordance with agreed audit schedule.
  • Liaison with operational engineering and procurement functions with regards to material and product specification ensuring the required quality standards are met
  • Maintain company standards and accreditations gained for P.E.D, CE, UKCA, ASME U & R.
  • Lead investigations and remedial actions for quality failures should they occur.

 

A sound understanding, working knowledge and experience with the following industry codes -

  • Pressure vessel codes ASME VIII & PD5500.
  • ASME U & R stamp.
  • Pipe work codes ASME B31.3 / ASME B31.1
  • E.D requirements including CE and UKCA Marking.
  • Welding standards to ASME IX & BS 15614
