Home Based IT Engineer  

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000

Location: Home Based (Client Site – Colchester, Essex)

Type: Permanent Position, 

UK Based Remote It Support Working From Home 2nd Line Support Helpdesk

The role requires a proficient individual capable of delivering exceptional support across a range of modern technologies, including Azure, SharePoint, and Intune. Your expertise in networking and virtualisation will be crucial in diagnosing and resolving complex issues, ensuring clients' systems operate smoothly and efficiently.

As a vital member of the support team, your role extends beyond remote assistance; occasional travel to client sites will be necessary. Therefore, having your own transport is essential. The ideal candidate will be situated within an hour's commute from Colchester, Essex, to ensure prompt onsite support when required.

Your Responsibilities will include:

    • To monitor and maintain network, hardware and software systems for an end client, based in Colchester, Essex.
    • To diagnose and resolve software and hardware calls/tickets.
    • To resolve escalated client tickets;
    • To accurately record, update and document requests using the help desk system maintaining a first-class level of customer service ensuring that all customers are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner.
    • Execute software installation and deployment to computing systems if
    • Assist with Active Directory
    • Contribute updates to technical documentation, procedures and process
    • Assist infrastructure team with network and infrastructure initiatives including both hardware and systems administration.
    • Provide occasional on site remediation.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Previous 2nd Line Support experience working within a Managed Service Provider, MSP.
  • Proficiency and experience providing technical support for:
  • Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, AD, Office365, Exchange Online, Sharepoint, Teams Intune, G-Suite, Microsoft Operating Systems, Windows Desktops/laptops, Windows Server; Win7/W10.
  • Working knowledge and experience of virtualisation technologies, Hyper-V, VMware etc
  • Competence in networks – TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, Firewalls, Switches, Routers, VPN, Wireless;

Personal Qualities:

  • You must be confident working on your own from home;
  • You need to be Organised, self motivated and conscientious;
  • Confident Communicator; able to maintain excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical customers at all levels.
  • Ability to provide reassurance and support to customers;
  • Proven experience building excellent client

  • Believes in personal development and willing to continually
  • Have a Clean driving license and access to your own vehicle.
