Registered Veterinary Nurse (Maternity Cover)
Near Streatham, South London
Salary: Up to £41,600 FTE / £20 p/hour | Part-Time | July 2026 – September 2027

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident and proactive Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a friendly independent practice near Streatham on a part-time maternity cover contract.

Running from July 2026 to September 2027, this position offers approximately 30 hours per week and would suit an experienced RVN who enjoys the variety of general practice and wants to become a valued member of a welcoming team.

You will be involved in all aspects of nursing, including consultations, surgical support, inpatient care and occasional reception duties. There will also be opportunities to work closely with the Practice Manager on ongoing projects and practice development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care across all areas of the practice
• Support consultations, theatre, anaesthetic monitoring and inpatient care
• Run nurse clinics and preventative healthcare appointments
• Assist with reception and client communication when required
• Maintain accurate clinical records
• Help develop and support practice projects
• Deliver compassionate, stress-conscious care with a strong focus on feline-friendly handling

Working Pattern

• Part-time maternity cover from July 2026 to September 2027
• Approximately 30 hours per week
• Three weekday shifts, typically 9:30am–7:00pm (flexible)
• 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (8:30am–1:00pm)
• Additional shifts available to cover holidays and sickness

The Practice

This is a long-established independent small animal practice with an excellent local reputation and a loyal client base.

The clinic offers a comprehensive range of services including surgery, digital radiography, dentistry, in-house laboratory testing and preventative healthcare clinics. The team is passionate about providing high-quality veterinary care while ensuring every patient’s emotional wellbeing is considered.

You’ll join a close-knit team consisting of one veterinary surgeon, two nurses and a dedicated receptionist, where collaboration and mutual support are central to daily practice life.
