Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice | West Lancashire | Up to £65,000 + Benefits

A thriving, purpose-built and RCVS-accredited independent veterinary practice in West Lancashire is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and close-knit team. Established in 2009, the practice has built an excellent reputation for delivering outstanding small animal care, supported by modern facilities and a loyal client base.

The Role

The successful candidate will be a capable all-rounder with strong surgical skills and a passion for consulting. They will be confident in routine procedures and decision-making, without requiring close supervision.

• Delivering high-quality clinical care to small animal patients
• Performing routine and more advanced surgical procedures
• Conducting consultations with professionalism and empathy
• Working confidently in sole charge when required
• Building strong relationships with clients and colleagues

This well-established independent practice offers a modern, purpose-built environment equipped to a high clinical standard. Facilities include:

• Digital X-ray with CR processing in a radiation-protected imaging suite
• Advanced in-house laboratory equipment and blood analysers
• Infectious disease testing and urinalysis capabilities
• Microscopy and diagnostic tools

Candidate Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon (essential)
• Minimum experience required – confident working independently
• Comfortable with sole charge
• Strong surgical and consulting skills
• Excellent communication and client care skills
• Compassionate, proactive, and team-oriented
• Must live within a 40-minute commute

Salary & Benefits

• Competitive salary: £40,000 – £65,000 per year (depending on experience)
• 5 weeks holiday + bank holidays + birthday off
• £1,500 CPD allowance + 5 days CPD leave

Working Hours

• 4–5 day week
• Weekdays: 9:00am – 6:30pm
