ECC Nights Veterinary Surgeon – Merseyside
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an ECC Nights Veterinary Surgeon to join a thriving independent out-of-hours clinic in Merseyside! Operating within a multi-disciplinary referral RCVS accredited hospital, this role offers the rare advantage of true clinical freedom, seamless collaboration, and immediate access to advanced facilities without restricted equipment or off site call centres.
This forward thinking hospital is fully equipped to referral standard, with access to CT scanning, endoscopy, high quality ultrasound, extensive in-house laboratory facilities, drip pumps, syringe drivers, and on-site transfusion products. As part of the Blood Sharing Scheme, the team is well prepared for critical cases, and they pride themselves on accommodating home visits wherever possible. The focus is always on delivering outstanding, affordable emergency care while maintaining the highest clinical standards.
Working alongside an experienced RVN, you will manage an average of 5–15 inpatients per night from local practices and the on-site referral service, in addition to a varied and stimulating emergency caseload. Following training, responsibilities will include triaging and admitting emergency referrals under clinician direction, with exposure to complex cases such as GDV, haemoabdomen, pleural effusion, DKA and more. Every shift offers challenge, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a genuine lifesaving difference.
The ideal candidate will be a confident, capable and enthusiastic veterinary surgeon dedicated to ECC work, with high standards of clinical care, excellent record keeping, and a calm, professional approach. They will thrive in a fast paced out-of-hours environment, enjoy managing referral level cases independently, and value strong collaboration with both night and day teams. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated vet seeking to develop within a growing, independent, forward thinking hospital that combines advanced diagnostics, supportive teamwork, and a shared commitment to exceptional patient and client care!
