Established over 40 years, this practice are specialised within all things equine health and deal with a caseload of sport/pleasure horses as well as racing thoroughbred and broodmares! The practice offers out of hours emergency cover, as well as first opinion ambulatory service and specialist referral surgery! Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Equine Veterinary Nurse to join their dynamic and supportive team in Kildare. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to equine patients, assisting veterinary surgeons, and ensuring the smooth operation of the veterinary practice.
The hospital is fully equipped with a laboratory where they perform CEM testing for thoroughbred breeding, lung wash cytology and blood Gas analysis. Their surgical facilities also includes Orthopaedic, Respiratory, Reproductive/Urogenital as well as Dental and abdominal services! They’ve currently got two other nurses as well as a large support staff and several interns employed at the practice.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to equine patients, including medical, surgical, and emergency care.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
- Monitor and record patients' vital signs and medical history.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as blood work, radiographs, and ultrasounds.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilization of equipment and surgical areas.
- Educate and support clients on equine health care, nutrition, and post-treatment care.
- Manage patient records and ensure accurate documentation.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with equines in a veterinary setting.
- Veterinary Nursing qualification recognized in Ireland.
- Strong knowledge of equine anatomy, physiology, and common medical conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Compassionate and dedicated to providing high-quality patient care.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and on-call duties.
