Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon – Swindon

• Join a thriving, independent practice in Swindon with three fantastic sites, including a new gold standard cat only clinic, and the facilities to handle cases fully in-house
• Earn an amazing salary up to £70,000 DOE, with a generous benefits package and strong support for CPD and further qualifications
• Enjoy clinical autonomy and the freedom to shape your role, whether in surgery, medicine, or client care, within a collaborative and experienced team
• Live and work in Swindon, a vibrant town with excellent transport links, great amenities, and beautiful countryside for the perfect work-life balance.

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, independent practice in Swindon. Operating across three thriving sites, including a newly opened gold standard cat-only clinic at the main location, this practice has been delivering high-quality veterinary care since 1986. Known for its strong in-house capabilities, it minimises the need for external referrals and offers a supportive, dynamic environment where veterinary professionals can truly excel. With a team of 36 dedicated staff members, including 16 skilled nurses and an efficient management structure at each site, the practice fosters a collaborative and rewarding atmosphere.

As a teaching practice, there is a strong commitment to mentorship, professional development, and maintaining an open, supportive culture. Continuous learning is encouraged, with a particular focus on CPD and advanced qualifications. Vets are empowered to explore and develop their individual clinical interests, whether in medicine, surgery, or other specialist areas. While the emphasis is on the quality of experience rather than the number of years in practice, it is expected that applicants will have several years of hands-on experience and be confident managing both medical and surgical cases. The ability to mentor and guide others within the team is also highly valued. Additional certifications are welcomed but not essential, as the practice actively supports further training and development.

This role offers real clinical autonomy and the opportunity to take a leading role in the absence of other vets, all while being backed by a knowledgeable and friendly team. Whether your strengths lie in diagnostics, surgery, or client engagement, the role can be shaped around your interests, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on your patients, clients, and team. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, organised, and driven, with a genuine passion for building lasting client relationships and contributing to a positive, team-orientated workplace culture.

Swindon itself is a lively and well-connected town, offering a great balance of urban convenience and rural charm. With excellent transport links, a wide variety of shopping and dining options, cultural activities, and nearby countryside, it’s a great place to enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle both inside and outside of work.

If you're ready to join a progressive, independent practice where clinical freedom, personal development, and high standards of patient care are genuinely valued, this could be the perfect next step in your veterinary career.
