Head Registered Veterinary Nurse

Salary: £39,000 - £43,500 DOE

Hours: Full-time, flexible options available (4-day week considered)

About the Role:

This Head Veterinary Nurse position is a key leadership role, advanced referral and emergency care facility. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership team to ensure outstanding patient care, efficient operations, and a highly motivated nursing team.

This role is ideal for an experienced RVN looking to take the next step into leadership, or a current Head Nurse seeking a new challenge in a busy hospital setting. Approximately 75% of the role will be dedicated to management and leadership responsibilities, while 25% will involve clinical duties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Team Development – Motivate and inspire a team of 30 RVNs, 14 SVNs, 7 VCAs, and a large support staff.
• Operational Management – Oversee nurse scheduling, training programs, and workflow improvements.
• Clinical Oversight – Ensure high standards of patient care, working alongside specialists in medicine, surgery, and diagnostics.
• Recruitment & Performance Management – Lead hiring processes and conduct staff appraisals to drive professional development.
