Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal Practice
Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire
Salary up to £80,000 DOE | Independent Practice

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a proudly independent small animal practice in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. Due to continued expansion, this friendly and supportive practice is welcoming a passionate Small Animal Vet to become part of their close-knit, collaborative team.

Located in a charming English market town famous for its food and drink, this role offers an excellent work–life balance alongside genuine professional fulfilment.

The Practice

This modern, purpose-built veterinary practice has been designed by vets, for vets, and is equipped to an exceptionally high standard, including:

Cat-friendly waiting area
Separate dog and cat wards with comfortable hospitalisation facilities
Spacious preparation area and dedicated operating theatre
Modern diagnostic suite with digital radiography and ultrasound
Separate, fully equipped dental suite

The practice prides itself on delivering outstanding patient care in a calm, well-organised environment.

The Team

You will be joining a supportive and experienced team of 4 Veterinary Surgeons and highly skilled Veterinary Nurses. The culture is genuinely collaborative, with no hierarchy or egos — just a shared commitment to excellent clinical standards and patient welfare.

This role would suit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys mentoring and supporting a New Graduate Vet within an independent practice setting. For the right individual, there is a future partnership opportunity available.

Out-of-Hours & Work–Life Balance

The practice provides its own out-of-hours care, valuing continuity for clients and patients. Importantly, the rota is well managed, clients are understanding, and on-call duties are very manageable.

The Rota

4-day working week
8:30am – 5:30pm shifts
1:5 weeknight on-call
1:4 weekends
Part-time applicants welcome
