Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious accountant to join our rapidly expanding Audit & Accounts team as an Audit Manager. In this crucial role, you will play a significant part in onboarding new clients and managing projects within our existing portfolio. Reporting directly to one of our 5 partners, you will lead projects for world-renowned clients and high-net worth individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Lead statutory audits from planning to completion, ensuring the highest standard of service and consultancy.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing consulting services and addressing inquiries on international subsidiaries, setting up new entities abroad, and general financial matters.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of annual accounts and corporation tax returns, with a focus on auditing, consulting, and accounts for international subsidiaries.
  • Team Collaboration: Provide guidance and support to junior team members, contributing to their development through ad-hoc feedback and knowledge transfer.
  • Client Consulting: Engage in general consulting activities, offering insights and advice to clients on various financial matters, demonstrating a proactive and client-focused approach.
  • Adaptability: Manage diverse tasks, including reviewing bookkeeping, management accounting, and VAT returns for corporate and owner-managed clients.
  • Career Progression: Explore opportunities for career progression, potentially moving into a Senior Manager position and working towards becoming a Partner within the organization.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Audit Expertise: Significant experience leading audit projects, preferably with exposure to UK or overseas subsidiaries.
  • Tax Knowledge: Working knowledge of general principles of corporation tax and other UK taxes, with experience in tax returns and tax strategies.
  • Client Interaction: Proven experience in client interaction and consulting, providing advice and solutions directly to clients.
  • Relationship Building: Strong ability to create and maintain relationships with stakeholders, leveraging connections to influence or retain clients.
  • Deadline Management: Motivated to meet strict deadlines, with a track record of successfully managing tasks within specified timeframes.
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to work in an organized and methodical manner, effectively managing competing priorities.
  • Software Proficiency: Comfortable with Sage and Xero, prior experience in audit and tax software; willingness to learn Caseware and Alphatax.
  • Team Support: Experience in supporting junior team members through line management or ad-hoc mentoring.
  • Qualifications: While specific qualifications are not mandatory, relevant professional certifications are valued, and experience is paramount.
