Senior Accountant

Reporting to: Finance Manager

About the Role

Optimize Recruitment is seeking a dynamic Senior Accountant to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role offers significant exposure to operations at factory level, including production, innovation, ESG, engineering, and quality departments. The successful candidate will engage at senior level across multiple sites, developing both management and leadership skills while contributing to the wider finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly management accounts: Prepare and review to the highest standards, ensuring accuracy and supporting detail.

  • Weekly production pack: Compile and analyze variances for management purposes.

  • Costing analysis: Review standard versus actual costings for all products.

  • Intercompany transactions: Communicate, post recharges, and reconcile accounts.

  • Regulatory returns: Prepare and submit tax, statistical, and compliance filings on time.

  • Budget preparation: Assist the Finance Manager in annual budget development.

  • Stock control: Manage reconciliations across multiple stock locations.

  • System improvements: Support implementation and maintenance of stock management and IT systems.

  • Audit liaison: Work with external auditors as required.

  • Senior Leadership Team collaboration: Partner with SLT to ensure strong financial governance.

  • Process optimization: Review, automate, and standardize processes continuously.

  • Grant & R&D claims: Assist in preparation of submissions.

  • Accounts escalation: Act as point of contact for complex AP/AR issues.

  • Finance initiatives: Contribute to team projects and ad hoc reporting.

Skills & Experience

  • Professional qualification: ACA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA with 1–2 years’ industry experience in a similar role.

  • Leadership ability: Proven experience overseeing and developing accounting administration teams.

  • Technical proficiency: Strong IT skills, advanced Excel; knowledge of Insight is an advantage.
