Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator
Location: Midlands
Full Time / Permanent Role

Optimize recruitment are proud to partner with our client, a leader in Construction and Engineering is seeking to recruit an ambitious EHS Coordinator to join their growing team

We are seeking a proactive EHS professional with 2–3+ years’ experience working in construction, manufacturing, or controlled-environment projects. The ideal candidate will be confident supporting site teams, implementing safety processes, and driving a positive safety culture across fast-paced, quality-focused environments.

What the Successful Candidate Will Have

  • 2–3+ years’ experience in an EHS role within construction, manufacturing, engineering, or similar technical environments
  • Strong understanding of EHS legislation, risk management, and compliance requirements
  • Experience working across multiple active sites or projects
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and on-site safety support
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence and engage site personnel
  • A proactive approach to incident prevention, investigation, and continuous improvement
  • Relevant EHS qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent)
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team

 
Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Support the implementation and ongoing development of the company’s EHS management system across projects
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and compliance checks to ensure safe working practices
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and updating risk assessments, method statements, and safety documentation
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to project personnel and subcontractors
  • Support incident/near-miss reporting, investigation, and corrective-action processes
  • Ensure appropriate PPE, emergency procedures, and safe-work protocols are maintained on all project sites
  • Monitor environmental controls and ensure adherence to sustainability and waste-management requirements
  • Participate in client meetings, safety forums, and project planning sessions to represent EHS interests
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and engineering teams to promote a positive safety culture
  • Maintain accurate EHS records, documentation, and reporting logs in line with company and regulatory requirements
