Electrical Estimator – Waterford City
Location: Waterford City
Hours: 8:30am–5:00pm (early finish Fridays)
Salary: €50k–€70k DOE

About the Role

Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking an Electrical Estimator to join a growing commercial team in Waterford City. This role is office-based within a mid-sized estimating and commercial function, working across projects in Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience within the electrical market, with particular exposure to Data Centre environments. The position involves managing tender enquiries, preparing accurate cost proposals, and supporting the wider commercial team. Although primarily office-based, occasional site visits are encouraged to develop a strong understanding of project requirements and company operations.

The business is expanding its European workload and offers a stable pipeline, structured support, and long-term career development.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate electrical tenders for Data Centre and large projects
• Review drawings, specifications, and client requirements for pricing
• Develop detailed cost estimates and support bid submissions
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for competitive quotations
• Work closely with the commercial and project delivery teams
• Assess project risks and identify value engineering opportunities
• Maintain estimate records and support reporting requirements
• Attend site visits to understand scope and project conditions

Requirements

• Electrical qualification or relevant construction-related discipline
• Strong estimating experience within the electrical market
• Proven exposure to Data Centre projects essential
• Ability to analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents
• Strong communication skills for supplier and team coordination
• Competent with estimating software and MS Office packages
• Good commercial awareness and structured approach to pricing
• Irish, UK or wider international experience advantageous; strong Data Centre background essential
