Senior Ecologist – Ornithology Team

Optimize Recruitment is partnering with a leading environmental consultancy to find an exceptional Senior Ecologist ready to take charge of complex, high-impact projects.

Join a dynamic Ecology team that includes the largest Ornithology division in Ireland. You’ll be at the forefront of projects in renewable energy, transport, water, and infrastructure, as well as diverse private sector developments across Ireland.

A key focus will be Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and EU Habitats Directive Assessments, giving you the chance to influence some of the most significant projects in the region.

Overview of the role:
• Own Your Projects: Manage everything from inception to delivery, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction.
• Lead and Inspire: Mentor junior ecologists and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver outstanding results.
• Shape Strategy: Scope and design survey programmes, oversee data collection, and produce robust impact assessments.
• Drive Growth: Build strong client relationships, prepare proposals, and identify new opportunities to expand the business.

The successful individual will have the following:
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in ecology or environmental consultancy, with proven project management skills.
• Expertise: Strong knowledge of ornithology, avian ecology, and conservation status of species in Ireland and the UK.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in EIA, Habitats Directive assessments, and excellent report writing.
• Leadership: Ability to manage workloads, mentor teams, and deliver under pressure.
• Qualifications: Degree in ecology, environmental science, or related discipline.
• Other: Full driving licence and a passion for protecting biodiversity.
