Senior Quantity Surveyor – Residential & Industrial
Location: Galway / Westmeath (Hybrid Options)
Hours: Monday to Friday
Role Type: Full-Time Permanent

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a standalone position within a mid-sized main contractor. The company delivers a mix of residential developments and larger industrial projects, including groundworks and utilities packages.

This is a key commercial role working directly with the Senior Leadership Team, offering strong progression opportunities, autonomy, hybrid working, and long-term career development within a growing business. Projects are predominantly based across Galway, Westmeath and surrounding regions.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management across residential and industrial projects
• Prepare forecasts, cost plans and monthly financial reports
• Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation and performance
• Oversee valuations, variations and final accounts for all work packages
• Advise site teams on commercial matters throughout project lifecycle
• Ensure full compliance with contracts, records and documentation
• Liaise with clients, design teams and project leadership
• Review tender information and support bid submissions when needed
• Monitor cost control processes and implement corrective actions
• Provide commercial input on project planning and risk management

Requirements

• Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar
• 7+ years’ experience with a main contractor or civil contractor
• Strong track record across residential and/or industrial projects
• Capable of managing all commercial functions independently
• Excellent negotiation, communication and organisational skills
• Strong ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Full driver’s licence for site visits
• Irish/UK experience is highly advantageous
