Purchasing Manager – Meath

A well-established manufacturer and installer of modular buildings and specialised containerised solutions for hire or sale across the country are looking to strengthen its procurement function to support growth, improve cost-efficiency and ensure supply chain resilience.

As Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for leading the sourcing, purchasing and supplier activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the purchasing strategy that supports both production/manufacturing operations and hire/sales business segments.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process: identify requirements, prepare purchase orders, negotiate terms, monitor delivery
  • Source and qualify suppliers
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, drive supplier performance in terms of price, quality, delivery and service.
  • Conduct supplier negotiations for cost savings, improved terms, volume discounts, rebates and framework agreements.
  • Collaborate with fabrication/manufacturing, project managers and site installation teams to forecast material needs and ensure timely availability.
  • Manage inventory levels alongside store manager
  • Monitor market trends (pricing, availability, alternative sourcing) and support business decisions on substitution, specification changes or sourcing shifts.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management on procurement KPIs (cost savings, supplier delivery performance, inventory).

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in purchasing/procurement within a manufacturing or constructionrelated business
  • Strong negotiation, communication, supplier management and contract-management skills.
  • Good commercial acumen with experience in cost benchmarking, data analysis, spend categorisation and supplier performance metrics.
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver under tight deadlines and work closely with cross-functional teams (production, project, logistics).
  • Familiarity with ERP or procurement systems
  • A degree in supply chain, procurement, business management or similar would be an advantage
  • Experience in Ireland / UK sourcing environment
