Salary: €45,000 – €65,000 + Package (Vehicle & Fuel)

About the Role

Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Site Engineer (Setting Out) for a public sector construction project in Portloaise.
This is a long-term, full-time position on a major development project with approximately two years of planned works remaining and additional follow-on activity in the area.

This opportunity offers valuable exposure to complex building works, a strong learning environment, and a chance to progress within one of Ireland’s top main contractors.

Responsibilities

• Carry out setting out, levelling, and surveying with accuracy across all phases of construction
• Check and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications for accuracy
• Liaise with architects, consultants, subcontractors, and the wider project team
• Monitor site progress and record as-built information
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety and quality standards
• Assist the Senior Engineer and Site Manager in daily coordination of works
• Support material take-offs and ensure timely delivery scheduling
• Prepare and maintain site documentation, including quality checklists and reports
• Participate in progress meetings and communicate effectively across disciplines
• Identify technical challenges and propose suitable solutions

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Site or Setting Out Engineer role
• Proficiency with Total Stations and GPS highly desirable
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality delivery
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
• Irish or UK experience highly advantageous
