Project Planner – Tier 1 Main Contractor
Location: Cork City
Salary: €57,000 – €70,000 or higher (d.o.e.) + Package
Hours: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Project Planner to join a leading Tier 1 main contractor for projects based in Cork.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with one of Ireland’s most established contractors, renowned for delivering large-scale commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, and residential developments. With a strong Cork presence and a long-term pipeline of significant projects, this role offers stability, progression, and exposure to major builds within a structured, supportive environment.

The successful candidate will be based from the company’s Cork office, with hybrid flexibility available following onboarding and probation. Strong team of planners within the office and company - and potential to progress within the company. 

Salary & Benefits

Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, and update detailed project programmes to ensure timely delivery
  • Coordinate schedules across multiple disciplines, including CSA and MEP integration
  • Track progress against established baselines, identifying deviations and corrective actions
  • Prepare reports, lookaheads, histograms, and S-curves for internal and client updates
  • Liaise closely with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to align objectives
  • Conduct quality reviews on all schedule data prior to submission to stakeholders
  • Support the preparation of progress presentations and reporting documentation
  • Maintain schedule control systems and forecasting tools to assist overall project delivery
  • Participate in regular planning meetings to communicate progress and potential risks
  • Contribute to improving planning procedures and project control frameworks

Requirements

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 4–5 years’ experience in project planning within construction
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
  • Previous experience with a main contractor on large commercial or industrial builds
  • Understanding of civil, M&E, and fit-out sequencing advantageous
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination skills
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Irish or UK experience highly advantageous
