Intermediate to Senior Quantity Surveyor – Main Contractor
Location: Kilkenny (Mix of In-Office and On-Site)
Hours: Full-time, Permanent
Salary & Benefits: €60,000 – €85,000+ | Vehicle & Fuel Card | Pension | Career Development Support

About the Role
Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking an Intermediate to Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established main contractor operating heavily in Kilkenny and across the South-East.

The company is currently delivering a high volume of residential, commercial, and healthcare projects, with a strong commercial team already in place and plans to strengthen it further due to continued growth.

This position offers excellent long-term prospects for progression within a stable, busy, and forward-thinking contractor renowned for quality delivery across the region.

Responsibilities
Prepare and manage detailed tender submissions, budgets, and cost estimates
Review and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations for accuracy and value Support project teams with cost planning, procurement, and commercial reporting
Liaise with clients, design teams, and site management throughout project delivery Conduct value engineering exercises and identify cost-saving opportunities
Assist in maintaining commercial systems, reports, and contract documentation
Provide regular updates on financial performance to senior management
Support continuous improvement and best practice across the commercial function

Requirements
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying or Estimating role
Experience with a main or Tier 2 contractor highly desirable
Excellent commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills
Strong communication and organisational abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management software
Irish or UK construction experience highly advantageous
