Procurement Professional – Electrical & Construction Projects

Location: Waterford City
Sector: Electrical / Construction / Engineering
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:30am–5:00pm | Friday 8:30am–4:00pm
Salary & Benefits: €40,000 – €50,000 DOE | Pension (post-probation) | Potential hybrid working

About the Role

Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Procurement Professional to join their expanding operations team in Waterford.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a developing procurement function within a growing Electrical Instrumentation and Construction company. The successful candidate will establish formal procurement processes, ensuring efficiency and consistency across material sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing documentation.

Initially, the focus will be on the administrative and purchasing side, progressing into strategic sourcing, cost comparisons, and supplier negotiations as the role evolves. The company operates across Ireland and mainland Europe, with projects in data centres, pharmaceutical facilities, and high-end commercial builds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and process material requests received from project teams
  • Develop procurement systems and introduce process improvements
  • Liaise with suppliers across Ireland and Europe to source and compare pricing
  • Issue purchase orders, monitor delivery timelines, and maintain accurate records
  • Assist with tender support, quotations, and cost analysis for upcoming projects
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and evaluate supplier performance
  • Coordinate with accounts, logistics, and project management teams to streamline workflow
  • Support compliance with company procurement policies and sustainability objectives

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, or buying (electrical or construction sector preferred)
  • Qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or related field desirable
  • Strong administrative, organisational, and coordination skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general procurement systems
  • Confident communicator with strong commercial awareness
  • Experience developing supplier networks within Ireland or Europe advantageous
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of introducing structured processes
  • Irish/UK experience highly advantageous

Salary & Benefits

  • €40,000 – €50,000 (DOE)
  • Pension scheme (post-probation)
  • Standard working hours: 8:30am–5:00pm (Mon–Thurs) | 8:30am–4:00pm (Fri)
