Junior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator – Electrical Construction Projects

About the Role

Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join a growing Electrical and Instrumentation contractor based in Waterford City, with future project deployment to Germany and the Netherlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to gain international project experience within the data centre and high-end construction sectors. Initially office-based in Waterford, you will progress to an overseas role supporting project delivery and cost management on large-scale European builds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing project estimates, take-offs, and cost plans
• Support tender submissions, pricing, and supplier quotations
• Liaise with procurement, site, and project teams to ensure accurate cost tracking
• Manage and update project cost reports and variations
• Review drawings, material requirements, and project documentation
• Contribute to commercial administration and contract support
• Participate in progress reviews and financial reporting
• Support continuous improvement in estimating and project controls

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
• 1-3 years’ experience in QS or estimating (electrical or construction background desirable)
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard QS software
• Willingness to relocate overseas (flights and accommodation provided)
• Motivated to grow within a supportive, expanding international contractor
• Ability to work in Ireland and Europe required
• Irish/UK experience highly advantageous
• Full Drivers Licence desired
