Site Manager – Water Infrastructure Project
Location: Claremorris, Co. Mayo (with future projects across the West & Midlands)
Sector: Civil Engineering / Water & Environmental Infrastructure
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary & Benefits: €60,000 – €70,000 + full package (vehicle, pension, healthcare, education assistance)

About the Role

Optimize Recruitment, working closely with our client, are seeking an experienced Construction Site Manager to oversee water and environmental infrastructure projects in the West of Ireland.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the technical and commercial delivery of works on-site, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. This role will suit a driven and safety-conscious professional with strong civil background, ideally in the water or wastewater sector.

The position begins in Claremorris, Co. Mayo, with ongoing works planned across the West and Midlands thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all on-site construction activities to company and client standards
  • Promote and maintain the highest levels of health, safety, and environmental performance
  • Oversee subcontractors, direct labour, and equipment allocation to ensure project efficiency
  • Review and implement construction methodologies and work sequencing
  • Monitor progress and provide 3-week lookahead programmes and client reports
  • Conduct daily briefings, inspections, and ensure all site inductions and training records are maintained
  • Resolve on-site issues promptly while ensuring adherence to quality standards
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and project managers to maintain clear communication
  • Ensure full compliance with all H&S, Environmental, and Quality Management Plans
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and contribute to continuous workflow improvement

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ site-based experience in civil or water infrastructure projects
  • Proven background in managing multi-disciplinary construction teams
  • IOSH Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Site Managers (SHE) certification required
  • Water/wastewater sector experience highly desirable
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of construction methodology, HSEQ procedures, and site coordination
  • Full clean Irish driving licence required
  • Irish/UK experience highly advantageous
