Civil Engineer – Utilities & Infrastructure Projects
Location: West Dublin
Please note: this is an office-based role with site visit as and when required.
- Salary: Commensurate with experience
- Annual Leave: 21 days
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Optimize Recruitment is working with a leading infrastructure delivery company to recruit a Civil Engineer for a key role within their project team. This organisation is known for delivering high-quality civil and electrical engineering solutions across utilities, power distribution, and infrastructure sectors, with a strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and safety.
This position involves supporting and coordinating civil and electrical works on-site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with technical and contractual requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in reviewing project designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Support the development of baseline programmes using Microsoft Project.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates and technical reports.
- Identify risks and delays; assist in preparing extension of time claims.
- Track project costs and highlight budget variances with proposed corrective actions.
- Contribute to scope variation assessments and support cost negotiations.
- Maintain accurate project documentation in line with contractual obligations.
- Provide technical support to site teams including Site Agents, Supervisors, and QS staff.
- Assist in preparing RAMS, electrical safety procedures, and HSEQ documentation.
- Conduct site inspections and support audits to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve design and coordination issues.
- Ensure all electrical installations meet statutory regulations and industry standards.
The successful individual will have the following:
- Experience as a Project Engineer in civil infrastructure, utilities, or electrical engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems (e.g., power distribution, utilities, street lighting) and related civil works.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Full, clean driver’s licence.
- Civil engineering background with experience in electrical project delivery is highly desirable.
